Spotlight Leonard ‘Tim’ Hector

Outlet samples

Each November since his passing in 2002, the Leonard Tim Hector Memorial Society has  marked the passing of this great Antiguan and Barbudan newspaper man with a week of activities including lectures, an exhibition, and the awarding of an outstanding Antiguan/Barbudan.

Artist Sir Reginald Samuel is one of the recipients of the Leonard Tim Hector annual award

Friend, Conrad Luke, wrote of him: “A man of indefatigable energy …One could essentially sum up Tim Hector with the phrase “out of one – many” – Journalist, Educator, Sports Administrator, Political Activist and Intellectual – indeed a multi-faceted person.”

For more on Hector read Luke’s entire article.  To read Tim’s musings on culture, politics, sports, education and more, read his popular Fan the Flame column, and in particular this entry re-posted recently at the Caribbean Book Blog.
