Caribbean Short Story Competition 2012/2013

Independent Trinidad and Tobago publishing house, Potbake, is promoting another Caribbean Short Story Competition, a short story competition.  The last competition had 16 winners and their titles were released in a book called Across The Caribbean launched at NAPA, Trinidad.

As circulated by Potbake…

This time, there will be a total of 10 finalists with US$ 250.00 going to the overall winner. The top 10 stories will be  published as a short story collection in 2013. There is no other monetary gain for the winning authors. There are no royalties to collect on sales. But winners can buy an unlimited copies of the book at cost price, for sale.

Entrants must be citizens of the Caribbean; and 13 years of age or older.

A maximum of 2 entries are allowed per entrant; stories between 2,500 and 3,000 words, original, and previously unpublished.

Finalists from the last competition set the bar high. Great, logical plots, clean, careful work, a variety of appropriately-used literary techniques. Potbake is looking for a similarly high standard with respect to this year’s submissions.

Submissions must be in MS WORD or PDF format and must include the word count, author’s name and contact information.

Potbake reserves the right to edit accepted manuscripts to ensure conciseness, clarity, and stylistic consistency, subject to the author’s final approval. The authors will retain the copyright for their stories but Potbake Productions will retain distribution rights for the top 10 stories.

The submission deadline is August 31st. Submit via email submissions@potbake.com with the subject line: “CSSC.2011/2012”; or via hard copy to #3, 3rd Street West, Beaulieu Avenue, Trincity, Trinidad, West Indies
