Last Lick

This is power point screened while the audience settled, awaiting the start of the Wadadli Pen awards ceremony – make that the 10 year anniversary Wadadli Pen awards ceremony – Sunday 30th March at the Best of Books, St. Mary’s Street, Antigua. It doesn’t have who won and all that nor all the artist statements as it was done somewhere between the short list and final decision but it does include snippets of all short listed pieces. Hopefully enough of a teaser to encourage you to visit the site, read the stories, and show the young writers and artists some love.

Since posting who won what at the weekend, the top 10 most viewed stories from the 2014 Challenge from most to least, so far, are:

  1. As an Antiguan-born writer who has lived most of my adult life in the U.S., I must say that this site fills me up in a way that nothing else does. The writing of the young Antiguans never fails to make me teary-eyed. I just love US–and by that I mean us Antiguans who express in art and words and with such collective, loving fervor. I feel proud.
