It’s the Antigua and Barbuda Sickle Cell Association’s week of activities. For art lovers, a highlight should be the Nicholas Hadeed show at Art at the Ridge, Sugar Ridge Resort; a percentage of sales will benefit the Association.
The week of activities runs from June 15th to 22nd 2014 under the theme ‘Moving to care, educate and improve Health in Sickle Cell Disorders’. Among the activities are the launch of the Sickle Cell Clinic on the grounds of the old hospital, Holberton, not far from the Hospice building if I’m thinking of the right spot. That’s on the 19th. There’ll be a lecture on sickle cell disorders at the Nurses Association building on Queen Elizabeth Highway, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., on the 20th. There’s a walk on the 21st. The arts show opens June 20th, 5 to 8 p.m. and continues June 21st, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and June 22nd 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
One hundred percent of sales on selected paintings and 15 percent on all other paintings will be donated to the Sickle Cell Association.
