National Youth Week (Antigua and Barbuda): What You Need to Know to Get Involved

From the National Youth Ambassador Corps – Antigua and Barbuda…

The Department of Youth Affairs in collaboration with the National Youth Ambassador Corps is hosting its annual National Youth Week 2015 under the theme “Imagination. Innovation. Realisation”. National Youth Week will be held from Friday 25th September 2015 to Saturday 3rd October 2015.

As a part of our youth exercises, it is our intention to launch the National Youth Council of Antigua and Barbuda (NYCAB). The National Youth Council of Antigua and Barbuda will be the umbrella body for all youth groups across the nation and will be autonomous and youth led. However, to ensure the success of this new undertaking, we ask for full support of your group. The following is the schedule for the NYCAB:

Thursday 10th September, 2015 to Thursday 16th September, 2015 – Nomination
During this period, persons will be afforded the opportunity to nominate suitable candidates to run for positions on the executive of the NYCAB. These persons must be between the ages of eighteen (18) and thirty-five (35).

Friday 25th September, 2015- Election Day
Elections will be held at the multipurpose cultural and Exhibition Centre from 5:00pm -7:00pm. Only the two (2) selected members chosen by your group will be eligible to vote.

Thursday 1st October, 2015- Launch of the National Youth Council of Antigua & Barbuda
Official declaration of the NYCAB and launch ceremony.

We invite your group to nominate suitable candidates to run for the following executive member positions on the NYCAB within the specified nomination period:

ii.Vice President
iii.General Secretary
v.Communications Officer

Additionally, we also ask that you select two members, one male and one female, who will cast the votes for your group and constitute General Council whose responsibility is to monitor the work of the NYCAB and oversea the implementation of decisions. The names of these individuals should be sent via e-mail to NO LATER THAN Wednesday 23rd September, 2015.

Please note that your youth group must be registered by Wednesday 16th September, 2015 in order to vote and be members of the NYCAB.
