The Wadadli Youth Pen Prize has worked to nurture and showcase the literary arts in Antigua and Barbuda since 2004, as a legal non-profit since 2021.

From its inception, the Wadadli Youth Pen Prize’s work has been voluntary, and, at this writing, it remains so. If you want to work with us, here’s what you need to know –
Please note that this information is evolving and is subject to change.
Help is needed year-round (to assist with research and content building, finances and fundraising, communication and administration, non-profit transitioning and obligations etc.); and especially in the build-up to and during our annual Challenge season (primarily with the processing of entries) – typically the first quarter of each year (subject to change).
Indicate interest in volunteering at any time to wadadlipen at gmail dot com (telling us briefly about yourself and specifying special skills, experience, or area of interest, if any).
Until we get someone to assist with communication, we may not be able to respond to each email. However, all expressions of interest will be filed and we will reach out as soon as we are able and as our needs dictate to see if there is still interest and availability.
Internships
Primarily target students (upper secondary and tertiary).
Are unpaid (in the case of Wadadli Pen) but not without value. For tertiary students especially, it is a professional development opportunity. Read about Michaela Harris’ experience of interning with Wadadli Pen while a student at the Antigua State College.

Provides practical experience in communication (e.g. checking inbox and liaising with patrons/prospective patrons, media etc.), research (primarily assisting with building the Wadadli Pen data base, updating the Carib Lit Plus arts bulletin, funding etc.), administration and logistics (e.g. assisting as needed, including processing entries to the Challenge and record keeping – this is vital!), social media (managing platforms, and creating and marketing content on YouTube and other social media), media liaising, and literary arts and non-profit activity generally.
Will require commitment to assigned and accepted tasks, to be completed on a volunteer basis; such tasks to be completed within a given timeline or on a timely basis generally.
Can run for any period – depending on intern’s availability – but intern will receive a recommendation letter (suitable for college or job applications) from Wadadli Pen only if a minimum of three months is successfully completed.
We especially invite applications from people passionate about the literary arts, and youth and community development. Tell us about that, and about what you bring to and what you hope to get out of an internship with Wadadli Pen Inc.
Let us know if you have interest in or experience with social media content creation and marketing (including creating new content for YouTube), research and documentation, organization, processing data, administrative tasks, communication, media liaising, proofing copy, finances and fundraising; being reliable (assisting as needed, doing what you say you’re going to do, managing your time, being on time).
